Esistono fotografie dimenticate. Esistono fotografie abbandonate.

Arrivano a noi come FOTOGRAFIE INUTILI.

.

There are some pictures that are forgotten. There are some pictures that are just left abandoned. They were a precious memory once, when still enshrined in the family photograph album where they belonged. Pictures that are now worthless.

They present themselves as USELESS PICTURES.

I asked to myself how to make them worthy again. The answer was to GIFT them, letting them find their way to their new owners. Each person chose a picture for a reason, linking it to their own personal memory, an emotion, a loved place, something completely new and unlinked to the original reason the picture was taken. This new connection is enough to give the picture a new, totally different, life.

On this concept I built the project “Fotografie Inutili, archivio fotografico ciclo-diffuso”.

An Italian journey between Museums, Public Bodies and Art Foundations. 3 months and 4.000 km on an old bicycle to meet and listen to hundreds of people that have now chosen their own “useless picture” becoming its new keeper.
